Year 12 Melville SHS Aviation student, Michael Henning, has won the Minister’s Aviation Scholarship for $5,000. This award is an annual scholarship for the most deserving public secondary student in a Specialist Aviation Program. On Thursday 22 April, Henning was awarded the fantastic prize by Lisa O’Malley MLA. Ms O’Malley said she would be keen to hear of Michael’s future achievements.

Michael’s passionate interest in aviation was sparked at a young age when travelling with his family. He said “I was always on a plane either going on holiday or flying down to Perth from Exmouth during school break. Since joining the Aviation Program, Mr Brink has truly inspired me to further develop my interest in aviation, his captivating teaching allowing me to excel in the subject. I recently achieved my Recreational Pilots License and plan to use the scholarship towards my Private Pilot’s License and furthering my possible future career in aviation”.
